In a heart-warming gesture, Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi met his elderly fan to receive blessings.

The footage revealed an elderly woman was in a wheelchair when Nabi approached her before receiving a kiss on her forehead.

The elderly fan was holding an Afghanistan flag and looked elated after Afghanistan managed to make it to the Super 4. The special fan has been identified as Gulpari Safi, 75, who is suffering from cancer for the last six years.

Safi, who is residing in the UAE visited the stadium from the hospital to watch Afghanistan play at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

During the Afghan-Bangladesh clash, Safi was watching the game in the VIP box with her son, Khyber.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan bowling coach Umar Gul is elated on seeing his wards delivering goods to make it to the next round of the 15th edition of the Asia Cup 2022. Gul maintained he is proud of the way boys have performed in the ongoing competition.

“Another thriller from the boys. Magnificent all round performances by each of the players with some amazing fielding takes us to the super 4. Super proud of this team. Just a few more games to win inshaAllah,” Umar Gul said after Afghans rout Bangladesh by seven wickets in Sharjah.

Gul earlier reiterated that the win against Sri Lanka has given boosted the morale of players.

“Very proud of the team for executing according to the plan and performing well in all departments.

“First win in such a tournament is a morale booster and gives everyone alot of confidence. Looking forward to winning all our matches inshaAllah,” he tweeted earlier.
