Cricket España (Spain) confirmed today that they will be sending their Women’s National team to Dreux in France to compete in their first ever T20 International ranking tournament.

The team will take part in a four team competition along with the hosts, Austria and Jersey.

Spain open their account against Austria on the afternoon of the 5th of May, and then the following morning have a match up with Jersey. Spain then play Austria on the 7th before having their final contest against the hosts on the 8th of May.

On learning the news one of the Cataluyna based players, Rabia Ahmad Iqbal said “We feel very powerful, breaking stereotypes and setting examples for the new generation”. Another member of the Barcelona contigent Fajar Fatima added “Our dreams are going to be real”.

New sponsors Grizzly Sports will supply the Women’s team with a brand new kit for the tournament.

As part of the agreement France will come to Spain in November to play in a reciprocal event at Desert Springs in Almeria.
