Dushmantha Chameera chased down skipper Rohit Sharma in the first over in the chase. Earlier, Rohit Sharma had been bowled four times by Chameera.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 56 in the first eight overs as India needed 128 runs in the last 12 overs to win the toss. Shreyas Iyer was bowled by Sanju Samson in the 13th over for Lahiru Kumara’s 23 to reduce the deficit to 56 off 42 balls. Harshal Patel’s two sixes off the last two balls of the innings and three more sixes helped Sri Lanka reach 37 off 19 balls at the end of the allotted 20 overs. Shanaka’s 53 off 53 balls, including two fours, and Pathum Nissanka’s 75 off 11 fours gave Sri Lanka a 184-run lead.
